Prices

Our costs and fees depend on the type of class you choose. The prices below apply when 4 or more sessions are paid for in advance. This ensures both the student and tutor remain committed and follow a clear curriculum for the lessons. Additionally, purchasing 8 classes or more will reduce the price per class, providing greater value for longer-term commitment.

For in-person classes, an additional fee applies depending on the distance.

  1. Private (one-on-one)
    • If you want to learn French with a private tutor, this is the right option for you. We recommend at least one class per week (four per month) for several months in order to see significant improvements.
    • Prices
      In-Person: $55/hour (4 classes) | $49/hour (8+ classes)
      Online: $45/hour (4 classes) | $39/hour (8+ classes)
  2. Paired (two individuals)
    • This option is best for couples, or family members who would like to learn French together. This option applies only to pairs that are at a similar French level. In other words, it wouldn’t work if one is advanced and one is a beginner.
  3. Small group (up to 4 individuals)
    • Small groups are great for friends or family members. If you’re alone and are interested in small group learning, we might be able to fit you an existing group, if available.
  4. Large group (5 or more individuals)
    • Large groups can be anywhere from 5 to 10 people. No more. This is the most affordable way to learn French while receiving our best price.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, Mandarin and Chinese are not exactly the same. “Chinese” refers to the entire language family, which includes various dialects such as Cantonese, Shanghainese, and Hokkien, among others. Mandarin is the most widely spoken dialect of Chinese and is the official language of China, Taiwan, and Singapore. So, while Mandarin is a form of Chinese, not all Chinese is Mandarin.

To read Chinese, you first need to learn Pinyin, which uses the Roman alphabet to show how Chinese words are pronounced. This is helpful for beginners to understand the sounds of Chinese. Then, you’ll need to learn Chinese characters. Unlike English, Chinese doesn’t use an alphabet but uses characters, so it’s important to start with the most common ones and practice recognizing and writing them. Chinese characters have a specific stroke order, so learning the correct order can help with writing and remembering them.
